Itinerary
Day 1 Arriving Xi’an (Dinner)
When you arrive in Xi’an, our local representative will meet and greet you at the airport and start the tour.
Xi’an is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization. During Xian’s 3,100-year development, 13 dynasties placed capitals here, just like a living history book. Xian enjoys equal fame with Athens, Cairo, and Rome as one of the four major ancient civilization capitals. Upon arrival, we tour【Small Wild Goose Pagoda】 (Xiao Yan Ta), the symbol of the city. It is a well-preserved ancient tower built in 707AD, functioned to collect Buddhists materials that were taken from India by the pilgrims. Here we will join a particular class to learn traditional Chinese culture, brush paintings and Chinese calligraphy: next tour is【Xi’an Museum】, a Tang Dynasty-style structure under national heritage protection. The museum has a massive collection that spans over 130,000 pieces –14,400 of which are rated at China’s highest level of cultural importance. 【A Dumpling Banquet and spectacle of the Tang Dynasty Show】 waits in the evening.
Day 2 Xi’an (Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast, we will visit 【Qin Emperor’s Mausoleum】and the 【Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum】; it was the most significant archeological excavations in 1974. Qin (d. 210 B.C.), the first unifier of China, is buried, surrounded by life-sized famous Terra Cotta Warriors, at the center of a complex designed to mirror the urban plan of the capital. The Terra Cotta Army is rated as one of the top attractions in China; in 1987 it was enlisted in the UNESCO. After the museum, we will continue to visit the【Artistic Ceramics Factory】, to learn about the techniques of making Tan San Cai, as well as the Terra Cotta Warriors.
Day 3 Xi’an – Beijing (Breakfast)
After breakfast, we will take the afternoon flight to Beijing. When you arrive in Beijing, our local representative will meet and greet you at the airport. The local representative will then transfer you to your hotel where you can enjoy the rest of the day for self-exploring or relaxation.
Day 4 Beijing (Breakfast, Lunch/Dinner in option)
A day at leisure for you to explore at your own pace.
We highly suggest an optional Forbidden City Tour with lunch (USD 65/person). Visit the world-renown Tiananmen Square, the very center of the capital of China. After, venture into the Forbidden City, the former palaces of many emperors throughout the Ming and Qing dynasty. It is a true architectural masterpiece and also a home to the National Palace Museum. After a delightful lunch, proceed to the Summer Palace, a former royal retreat, even renown best-preserved imperial garden in the world. Then, visit a famous ancient Chinese Medical Pharmaceutical company, founded in the year 1669, Tong Ren Tang. Learn the rich history, theory, and philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine. Also, you can learn health preservation through Chinese medical way. This evening, you will be delighted by a famous Peking Duck dinner (USD 35/person) banquet.
Day 5 Beijing (Breakfast, Lunch)
Today’s highlight is an excursion to the world-renowned, majestic, Great Wall (JuYongGuan). Also known as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World,” recognized by UNESCO. Get a chance to climb a section of this 3,700-mile marvel. Afterward, tour the iconic “2008 Beijing Olympic Center”; including the famous Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, which now hosts many spectacular opening ceremonies and events. Experience the magnificent architectural structure design from the outside view, providing a perfect photo opportunity to capture these wonders. Then, visit one of the largest Jade Exhibitions in Asia. Tonight, you can choose to participate in a large-scale musical drama show, The Golden Mask Dynasty show (USD 50/person).
Day 6 Beijing – Chengdu (Breakfast, Lunch)
Today, we will take a tour to the “Temple of Heaven,” a recognized by UNESCO as an architectural masterpiece built between 1406-1460 A.D.; used in the past by the emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties for ceremonial honoring and praising to the gods of harvest. Afterward, take a famous rickshaw Hutong Tour & Local Family Visit, where an included local family meal will take place. During the late evenings, transportation to Chengdu via a flight.
Day 7 Chengdu (Breakfast, Lunch)
Today’s highlight is to be a volunteer at the 【Giant Panda Breeding Center】 where you’ll see this lovely animal up close and learn its habitat and evolution. After breakfast, a lecture will be given by one of the center directors; then you will receive your panda keeper uniform and official passport to enter the research facility. You will be assigned to one supervisor who will assist you with your job. (Sweep the immaculate panda bins; take bamboo to the Pandas and feed the Pandas, helping Pandas taking a shower, etc. Being a part of their staff, you have a unique opportunity to enter all restricted areas in the center, getting in close contact with the pandas. During your break, you are free to roam the facility and take pictures.
Please noted that all activities are not guaranteed, it is up to the Breeding center to arrange your volunteer work.
Day 8 Chengdu (Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast, visit Broad & Narrow Alley and People’s Park, you will find the real leisure life of older Chinese people. Taste tea in local tea house. Transfer to hotel. Lunch included.
Day 9 Chengdu – Home (Breakfast)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and head back home.
